HAPPY TWENTY-TWELVE!

Our New Year celebration is a quiet one, this year.

We stayed home, made grilled chicken sandwich and salad with honey mustard dressing while watching Matt Damon in The Adjustment Bureau.

A few minutes before the clock strikes 12am, we could hear the fireworks starting. And at 12am on-the-dot, the fireworks just went crazy. It was so ohsem that it lit up the skies, with colours blue, yellow, red and green. We did not have a full-on view from our balcony; we actually saw the reflections from the neighbouring condo. Haha.

But, it was all good. The most important thing is that I welcomed the new year with the most important man in my life :)

Here's to a happy and healthy 2012!

So I've told you about what I didn't buy. Now, I tell you what I bought! *excited*

Jeng jeng jeng.....

Aren't they the prettiesttttt?!

Hehe, I'm so happy I got them!

I never promised I wouldn't buy any shoes now, did I? Hehe.

The purchase of this pair did not come without the drama. As per usual la kan, I always drama lebih if nak beli barang2 mahal ni.

So, we were walking around in Orchard Road and I decided to go into Ferragamo. Walked in and saw the shoes immediately. Tried them on and love how comfy they are. Asked for my size and jeng jeng jeng, they didn't have my size!

Fine, keluar dengan muka sugul. Tapi macam redha masa tu. Haha.

BBM-ed my sister and told her about the shoes. Then she said, "kenapa tak tanya if ada kat any other outlet? And you can even ask them to take it from the other outlet kalau ada"

I, trying to be all matured and grown up, replied, "takpelah, I'll go myself to the other outlets, kalau ada rezeki, adalah". Chewah, cakap beria. Pffft

After lunch, I thought of walking to ION Orchard (where the other outlet is) but it seems so far and it was starting to rain. So I didn't go.

Got back to the hotel and tiba2 teringat the shoes. A lot of things went into mind...

"The shoes is such a bargain - can wear for work and casual"

"The shoes are the perfect height, dah la wedges, can wear banyak2 kali"

"The shoes are so pretty! I wanttttt!"

Of course, ni semua dalam hati sahaja. And dalam twitter. Haha.

Hubs read my tweet and said -

"Why don't you just go to the store and ask them to check if they have any left at other outlets?"

"I tanak la you regret2 nanti" -- because I tweeted something about regret I think :p

And with little encouragement, I got up, took the rain coat (because it was pouring at the time) and ran out of the hotel room.

What happened after that was pure crazy. I really felt like I'm an uncontrollable shopaholic at the time. But, that didn't stop me lah. Heck, the pouring rain didn't stop me. Haha.

I walked in the heavy rain as fast as I can to the Ferragamo store next door, walked in all soaked, asked the SA to check if they have that particular shoes in my size at the other outlet and if they can get it to that particular store.

And the rest, as they say, is history. I got the shoes in less than 30minutes. Crazy yes. Happy very!

I'd like to think that it was my rezeki to get the last pair! :p

I just came back from my 5-days vacation to Singapore!

I know, I know, 5 days in Singapore?! Lama gila kan.

Basically we did the usuals - Universal Studios, Night Safari and my favourite - SHOPPING!

Butttt, this time around, I DID NOT go crazy buying everything! (like I did in London and HK ;p)

I think this is because i) I'm maturing and ii) sale wasn't too great - shopping kat KL lagi best and murah. Haha okay lah, it's more of the latter. Kalau sale beria, terus lupa je maturing grown up lady tu. Hehe.

Anyways, before leaving for Singapore, I announced to my Husband - "I've decided that I'm not going to buy any more bags this year!" The agreement was two designer bags per year for now, until he gets richer then I can buy anything anywhere anytime. Eceh. *berangan*

And then, arrived in Singapore and regretted BIG time! Because when I got to Singapore, I fell in love with not one, but two bags!! Me and my big mouth. *slaps forehead*

One is the Fendi Chameleon Boston Bag that I've blogged about here and the other is Marc by Marc Jacobs Memphis Trip Colour Block Top Handle. Here's how it looks like;

Can you imagine how I was squealing when I saw and held those two bags?! Seperti biasa, segala simptom2 jatuh cinta dengan bag sudah terserlah - tersipu2 tengok cermin, usap bag dengan pipi. The SAs must have thought that I'm a complete idiot!
Of course, I didn't care. Haha.

Showed Hubs and of course la, he ignored me. Didn't even look at em' babies. Boo!

So, I reluctantly put them back and left the store. :(

But, I'm proud to say I stuck to my words. Hard for sure but kept my promise! *pat pat*

Jade Mountain, St Lucia

I'm a sucker for gorgeous hotels. Period.

But gorgeous hotels with a breathtaking view? LOVE 'em.

And so, I was checking out luxury hotels on Google, and I stumbled upon this.

That instantly caught my eye! That view is magnificent, MasyaAllah.

So I went to the website and found out that the hotel is in St. Lucia, an island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea.

And looking at the pictures, oh-my-oh-my, most rooms come with that beautiful view. Imgaine seeing those green mountains, with those clear blue sky first thing in the morning. Such serenity and peace! I'd imagine the air to be so clean and clear, you won't be needing air-conds there.

This is going down as one of the places that I have to visit. InsyaAllah, when we have the money.

Till that dream comes true, let's drool looking at these pictures.

Crates Crazy!

Ohmygod!!

This is exactly what I was thinking of doing for our home office!!!!!

Ahhh, and to think that I got the inspiration without looking at any pictures/blogs/etc. I feel like I very creative like that.

Anyhoos, mine hasn't materialized yet because I haven't found the crates in KL. I called up one of the wine shops (simply because they are the ones that use crates and would prolly have them) in Desa Sri Hartamas, but they said they don't keep theirs. ??!! I have to say, tho, that I haven't been trying hard enough. I could just drop by and ask from all these wine shops, Cold Storage etc.

Okay, I am now driven to do so. After looking at the beautiful end product!

Ache no more

I had an impromptu massage session after work today.

My back and neck have been aching for the past week. All those staring at the computer, checking the piles of reports and those never-ending housework finally got to my body. At the end of my work day earlier, I could just feel the knots in my shoulders, back and neck!

Googled some spas that are nearby to the office, checked with Hubs if I can pop in for two hours, and wahlaa - booked myself a 90minutes massage at Sompoton Spa, Intercontinental Hotel.

Obviously, I did not take any pictures since this was an impromptu visit and all I could think of was to get those knots out of my neck!

But, here are some from Google.

When I arrived, they brought me into a waiting room where a cup of hot yummy chrysanthemum tea was ready for me to gobble down.

After I was done (and I took my own sweet time, drinking and bbm-ing people), my masseuse escorted me into my own private room. I love the room - simple but tastefully decorated.

Then, like the picture above, I had both my feet soaked and scrubbed. And just like that, I relaxed instantly.

And after that was done, off with the heavenly massage.

God, my masseuse really has magic fingers. All the knots just melted away under her touch. I totally zonked out. Before I knew it, my 90 minutes were up!

I almost, almost asked her to continue. But money stopped me. Haha.

I don't know why I dont get massages more often. My mum always go for massages and she sometimes nags me to go pamper myself too. Seriously, mothers do know best.

Next time she nags, I'm gonna shut up and just go.

I highly recommend Sompoton Spa. The price is a bit steep, but you'd forget once that lady with the magic fingers touches you.

Oh my Garden!

My new favourite spot in the house is currently my balcony cum "garden".

Last two weeks, I dragged Mom to Sungai Buloh to get meself some plants.

A lil bit of history - I tried caring for flowers before, but all died because one, I didnt water them *facepalm* and two because my balcony gets direct sunlight during the day. So none of those "feminine" flowers could stand the scorching sun.

So, with all that in mind, I specifically wanted to get plants and flowers that are more "macho" against the sunlight. Went to the nursery and asked the abang to recommend me some "tahan panas" plants.

And so far, my lil garden is looking so green and good! Ahhh, the flowers are blooming and the green plants are healthy looking! I bought some lanterns and have tea at the balcony these days. That was just so serene. Life's small lil pleasures.

Oh, I also think that my talking to the flowers and plants help them grow. I think they love me talking to them, and c'mon if you know me, you'd know that I absolutely LOVE talking!

Since I took these pictures, I have added some more plants. Oh, I also have a rosemary and a basil! I want to get some chili plant next.

I also want to paint those garden furniture to a pale yellow colour. I think that would make my garden more lively and vibrant.

For now, I'm happy :)

Malaysian-ised Summer Picnic

Back in the UK, we used to look forward to summer. One, because exams are usually over and you'd get to have all sorts of fun and two, because you get to wear summery clothes and go for picnics!

So, two weeks ago, the SATC gals had a summer "picnic" here in KL.

It was actually done in my condo. Because it's just too hot to be sitting out under the scorching sun! :p

It was a potluck thing - I made beef stew. Dido made the yummiest fruit smoothies, Iman the dessert queen made pavlova and trifle while Tasha and Amily cheated. Tasha, as usual, made her Mom cooked. Thanks Aunty, seperti biasa makanan Aunty memang sedap! And Amily BOUGHT mee kari, pfft. And this is one girl who can actually cook up fabulous meals! Well, she got lazy after she came back, hehe.

I cleared out the space in my living room and laid out my polka-dot tablecloth. Put flowers in small vases and scatter them around. It really felt like we're having a picnic in Cardiff especially with the cool air-cond breeze. ;p

The food was yummy! We had so much fun reminiscing and stuffing our tummies silly. We couldn't get up after, masing2 tersandar perut kekenyangan.

Bag Fever

OMG, I have totally neglected this blog! Sorry, I had writer's (or blogger's) block, hehe.

Anyways, it's that time of the year when I get that itch to buy a bag!

And boy am I fickle! One day, I want a classic Chanel, the next a nice one-of-a-kind clutch/dinner bag before toying back to the Chanel.

Obviously, all this fickle-ness are all in my head, because the moment I say "I'm thinking of buying a bag" to the Husband, he'll just zoned out. Sheesh.

Well, until recently, I was still quite in-between the two bags. Until I saw this!

I'm a sucker for beautiful bags. And this one, I really love!!

I haven't seen this in-person, but I bet it's gorgeous. It's so chic - you can wear this with practically every outfit!

Of course, Hubs would prolly hear this as all my excuses for getting a new bag - "it's an investment, kalau kita takde duit nanti, I can sell one of my bags!"

His reply? "I'm sure you would rather sell your kidney!" He knows me too well, that dude.

Ah, but I so want the Fendi!

Btw, the bag is a Fendi Chameleon Boston Bag from the label's latest collection. And they have other colours too! Just sharing in case you guys want to get it. Hehe.

Selamat Hari Rayaaaaaaa!! :)

I'm finally back from our fun-filled Raya celebration in Johor.

We spent the first raya in KL with my side of the family and went back to Muor that night to spend the rest of Raya with Hubs' side.

On the third Raya, all of us went to JB for more food-filled Raya! :p Went to beraya at my side too :)

All in all, it was a good Raya, Alhamdulillah.

I hope all of you had a beautiful Raya with your loved ones too :) Because mine is just awh-some!

It's a BOY!

And a surpriseeeeeee!

Confuse?

Hehe, that was the tagline of the baby shower that my friend, Natte & I organised for two of our close friends, Jid & Dina.

The theme of the baby shower was rainbow! And I went all anal & annoying, making everyone who attended to wear one colour from the rainbow.

We did it during Friday lunch at The Social, G tower. Despite my crazy & now-very-demanding job, I managed to pull through the baby shower with the help of my great partner, Natte! *kiss*

So, here are some gorgeous pictures, taken by my gorgeous fren, Natte.

I painted the "It's a BOY!" "& it's a SURPRISE!" signs. It was pretty easy and am pretty happy with how it turned out! :p We also bought some colourful lollys and stuck it in a clear vase stuffed with shredded coloured papers.

The teddy bears and rainbow windmills belong to Natte's SIL and son. Hehe.

Remember I said I'm going to highlight worthy vendors from my cousin's wedding? I'm back with the final vendor recommendation.

And that is Que Arrifin!

When I arrived at my aunt's place, I was mesmerized! Really, Que did an excellent job transforming my aunt's living room & porch into something sooo beautiful.

Well, of course you won't just take my words for it kan? So, I'm showing you pictures.

Unfortunately, these are the only ones available on his fb page. I didn't have my camera with me cos I was busy being a makcik :p

When my cousin told me about Que, I really had no idea who this dude was. Until when researching for this post, that I realised I have actually met him!

You know where? The B2B Gathering that I attended last year. I even took his name card, cos even then I thought his designs were gorgeous!

Tapi, dah takde jodoh nak bekerja dengan Que, rezeki dengan Arma :)

Looking at Que's portfolio on his facebook page I have no doubt that he can deliver! His works are crazy beautiful! I have special respect to decorators that can really transform an average-looking hall into something so va-va-voom! And this guy is one that has that magic fingers!

So, for those of you looking for a decorator, check him out!

Hello!

I am back. Actually I have been back for 2+ weeks already. But, work has been crazy and hence the silence! Sorry for those who left comments here, I'll reply soon!

I am also working on something BIG and exciting! And insyaAllah, when the time comes, I shall share it here. Hence, another reason why I've been silent here :p

For now, I leave you with a photo of us in Ubud, my favourite, favourite place in Bali. Next time kalau pegi Bali, nak duduk kat Ubud je. It's hilly (good for paranoid people like me who's always thinking of the tsunami everytime I see high waves!) and romantic. Perfect for honeymooners as well.

After my passport drama, we are now set to lounging in the Sun, stuffing ourselves with seafood and just relax.

I am sooooo ignorant/pelupa/careless/doof!!

You know why?

Well, I'm going to Bali on Wednesday and as I was going through the itineary, I remembered that my passport is expiring at the end of the year! Wayyyyyy past the 6 months travel period!

Sakit jantung sekejap! Then quickly asked my colleagues how long would renewal take. And thank heavens it now takes an hour, max two.

After i've sorted out what to do - printed off the documents needed, photocopied my IC and called Mom for my passport photos - I calmly bbm-ed Hubs.

Let's just say he wasn't too happy. Eek.

So, first thing tomorrow morning, I'm heading to PBD to renew my passport! Doakan dapat terus k? Amin.

Cousin's Wedding: Anis & Faizal

Last weekend, my cousin got married! It was a three-day affair with the Akad kicking-off the wedding marathon on Friday night. It ended beautifully with the Groom's side on Sunday.

I will not go into much details, but I will pick & choose vendors that I think is worth highlighting!

And first off is their videographer! Everybody LOVES the video!! It is refreshingly different from what we see in the market. This, in my humble opinion, even tops Manggis!

The company is called Gregs Video. And they are just brilliant! Really, my writing skills cannot justify their brilliance. So, just check out the video.

I turned 27(!!) today :)

I had an awesome birthday - woke up to birthday (and anniversary) wishes from families and friends, was given my friend, Natte's reserved parking spot ( I didn't have to go all the way up to park, as per usual), had a yummy tuna cheese sandwich prepared by my other friend, Dina, was surprised by a sweet delivery by my Husband, had a superb birthday lunch celebration with the rest of my batch (complete with "domestic-goddess-themed" cupcakes and a basket of chic pressies from my dearest friends) and finished off with a lovely birthday dinner with my family at Meatworks!

Thank you to everyone who wished me via Twitter, FB, Gtalk and texts. Each of your wishes really warms my heart :)

I'm thankful for everything and everyone that I have in my life. I'm one lucky girl.

Melaka, Malacca

This is one of my favourite states in this country!

It all started when I first went to Melaka for my department's family day back in 2008. I fell in love with the place but didn't have enough time to explore the city then. Came back and told then-boyfriend that the first road trip that we're taking together would be to Melaka!

And so we did, last Wesak weekend.

We had a blast there. We explored the city; went to Jonker Walk, ate good food, bought knick knacks, rode on the beca, got ourselves much-needed massage and just being with each other.

We stayed at a new hotel, Casa del Rio. And I'm glad we booked our room there!

It is GORGEOUS!

We were greeted with cold towel and lime & ginger sorbet. That was very refreshing on a really hot day

The room is lebar & panjang. Quite spacious for the two of us. I love the layout, even told Hubs that I want to have a similar room at our own home nanti!

My only qualm with the room is the BED! We requested for a king-sized bed. But, really our bed is two twin-sized beds put together. I hated that! Macam mana nak tido cuddle-cuddle kalau katil asyik bergerak je. That was very annoying. We ended up sleeping on our own beds since the gap in between were just too uncomfortable for any one of us to sleep on.

It would have been a perfect 10 if it were a proper king-sized bed!

Since the hotel is very new, there were still some things that are unfinished. But, that didn't really bother us - there were no noisy construction during our stay, thank God.

Oh, breakfast was included in our room price. But, breakfast was disappointing. The buffet (if we can even call it that) consisted of fresh-cut fruits, nasi goreng, prawn mee and some pastries. That's it!

All in all, I give the hotel 8/10. The bed and the breakfast really are the killer. Other than that, we had a wonderful time at Casa del Rio and Melaka of course!

We needed some us time and that's what I've been doing - focusing on us and our families.

Hello my dears,

It's 24 hours to the Royal Wedding!! I am very excited to watch history in the making tomorrow. Are you?

All day today, I talked about the wedding - giving friends and colleagues royal trivia, looking at pictures after pictures and studying the procession routes. I know, a tad obsessed. But, this doesn't come very often!

And I have been ogling at this! The place is only 5mins away from Buckingham Palace! It is literally on the palace grounds!! And Kate Middleton and her family (as well as the flower girls and page boys) are all staying here now!

All the time looking at the website, I was imagining myself, looking all princess-y and Bri'ish in my hat and gloves, sipping tea out of my dainty tea cup with one pinky up, and going "Oh, what a lovely weather to be out" (cos them Brits love to talk about the weather, don't they?)

Oh well, that's as close that I can get to feeling like a Princess.

So, for today and tomorrow, I'll be Princess Adzy Middleton! :p

My friend, Jid called me that earlier. And I went all smiles. Thank you babe! Haha.

Just got back from listening to an awesome live performance by these super-talented people.

Monoloque and Yuna are definitely the most talented people I've heard so far. They've got amazing vocals and they can play all sort of musical instruments. *respect*

Hubs and I are both cannot play any musical instruments. I suck at playing the recorder in school last time. And hubs is tone-deaf (tho' he's delusional ;p)

But, we enjoy our music. We like singing (or screaming) our hearts out at home. I'll play on something on the Mac and we'll sing along. Kanda Dinda is our current fav :p

So, listening to Monoloque and Yuna just now was very very enjoyable for us. Especially when they sang our Kanda Dinda song! :p

Hubs and I have decided to send our future kids to all kinds of music classes, to make up for our lost "talents" ;)

And in the meantime, the new cd we just bought is going to be in loop.

Or I would have asked my Mom to sign mine because she was my rock throughout my wedding!

Life of a (Part Time) Housewife

I'm about to let you into a lil' secret.

Just brace yourselves ok?

Deep breath in, and fuh fuh...

Okay, girls, after the beautiful wedding that you've been so hard-at-work planning, and the oh-so-dreamy honeymoon, marriage will settle in.

I have been married 10 months now, and I will tell you, that married life has properly settled in! At least, the first part.

And you know what that is?

Housework!!!!

The cleaning, the cooking, the dishes, the laundry and the IRONING!

Add that to the fact that most of us are working from 9am to 6pm (8pm on bad days), these can be quite overwhelming. I have somewhat adjusted to the chores. Although, I think I was a bit more "Monica" during the first few months. Then, I realised I'm too tired to be all Monica about things. I used to iron my bed linens in those days! Now, I just stick to ironing the pillow cases.

Of course, training the husband from Day 1 helps. My husband is trained to do the dishes, the laundry (excluding folding and ironing cos he's crap at it no matter how many times I showed him how to!) and the garbage.

And I'm also very lucky to be able to receive help every once in 2 weeks. Actually I'm very lucky that Hubs truly understands that I'm working and I'm a bit pampered, so he always asks me to call in the maid to help out with the chores.

I really don't mind the chores. But I really really really HATE ironing! Urgh, the torture!

So, tonight I'm going to celebrate with all of you - my joy of ironing almost 30 articles of clothing in 2 hours! And this with my bad back post-minor-accident and weeks of not doing the ironing!

*pats self on back*

I haven't done this much ironing since my Monica days early on in the marriage! So yes, I am proud, yo'!

Oh of course, I got 2 burnt thumbs in return. Pfft.

I'm into buns these days. And in case you're wondering, I'm talking about hairbuns!

Since my hair is long-ish, and I'm making no attempt to cut/restyle it eventho' I say it all the time, I am now always spotted with my hair in a bun. And I'm growing to love it!

I especially love those loose hairbuns. So effortlessly chic. But, of course, a whole lot of work and hair products goes into making that look. How ironic.

So, I went online and found this really great website. But, I'm going to have to warn you before you click on that link - the website is highly addictive. Just letting you all know that I wont be updating for the whole of next week, becauseeeeeeeee....

I'll be in Hong Kong, baby! *woot*

Anyways, I'm there for work (boohoo!), but I have some spare time to roam the city's shopping havens (yeay!)

Hubs is not coming (cos he has cases and trials and work....boring!) and he's a bit concern that I'll be there alone. Before you go "awhhhh, how sweet *cair*", let me just say he's concern because he wont be there to control my spending! Pfft..

And I didn't help - while packing earlier, I said - "hmm, I think I'm just going to bring one pair of shoes je, kalau tak cukup, beli je la kat sana nanti." Hehe.

Let's hope I don't come home with another suitcase next week! *wink*

This time, it's Kate Middleton!

She's marrying the man of every girls' dreams in April and I cant wait to see what (and who) will she be wearing! Because...

THIS GIRL HAS GOT STYLE!

Hers is a classic one - she's always dressed so immaculately but she injects a lil bit of personality (like her fancy hats!). So, she doesn't come across like the Queen's mother but rather a chic Princess.

6 years and counting...

Hi :)

Yesterday, my husband and I celebrated our 6th-year of being together! *smiles* (Oh, 6 years of dating btw, kahwin baru 8 bulan :p)

Both of us can't believe that we have been together that long! During the past 6 years, we have been through a lot of things.

We saw each other grow - from laid-back students to working adults. From easy individuals to property-buying couple. From "Syadzy" to "Syah&Ad" and hopefully, insyaAllah, from us to us-plus-kiddos.

6 years ago, we discussed and planned our future.

Now we're living that future.

And we pray that we will always have a future together, dunia akhirat. Amin.

Here's to more years to come!

To my dear husband, happy anniversary! I cannot imagine taking this journey with anyone else but you. The last 6 years have been perfectly amazing and I'm looking forward to the rest of this journey together :) I love you, always and forever.

I love candles!

They are so great to create a soft and romantic ambience. They turn the room from bleh to beautiful!

I have candles in my home. Some in the living room - great for those movie-night-in - and some in the bathrooms - a great de-stressing tool, just fill in your tub with your most expensive shower gel, and ahhhh, relaxxxx!

I use mine so often that the candles are now half way down. And I need to get some new ones pronto.

I want to get those really big fat ones. Just like this.

I think they would be great for the living room and bedroom *wink*

I also love the round ones in all sizes and colours. And the square ones too. Oh, and tealights as well! *haha, you get the idea, I love EVERYTHING candles!*

They are also great to incorporate in weddings. And I think they can be quite a cheap-ish decor alternative. When I was planning for my wedding, before I even thought of having a decorator, I wanted to use a lot of candles in my wedding decor.
I googled for bulk candle producers around Malaysia, and found a few that offer quite competitive pricing. Most are outside KL, and are willing to ship to KL for a small fee.

If you are DIY-ing your own wedding decor, candles should definitely be in your list! They are easy, cheap and really make that big of a difference to the ambience.

Here's some inspirations;

The great thing about candles is that they are so versatile. You can use them on their own, or group them together on a mirrored plate/tray for a classic look, or pair them with jars for a rustic look, or even use the long tapered ones and stick 'em in the candle holders for an elegant look.

Just go with your what your heart thinks best! And go crazy!

Gl-oh-rious Hydrangeas!

They are one of my Mom's favourites!

And she used to buy them whenever she visited my in the UK, scattering them everywhere in the house. Haha, obviously, I wasn't too bothered then.

But, now that I'm *ehem* more mature, I finally share her interest in flowers! And as it happens, flowers are perfect compliment to weddings, one of my passions!

Hydrangeas come in all sorts of beautiful colours. The most common that we see is the blue ones, but they can also be found in pretty pink and purples, pearly whites and gorgeous greens! I wanted to put some pictures here, but after going through the thousands of pictures on Google Image, I couldn't decide on a few. I love all of them! All are eye-catching, I can't possible save everything and upload it here! So, just google "hydrangeas" and click image, and you'll be drown in a sea of colourful hydrangeas!

And while I was researching, I stumbled upon this!

I was going through my old wedding inspirations folder, and I found this!

Yeap, that's Tuanku Zara Salim Davidson, wife to the dashing Raja Nazrin.

I saved that picture (and a few others) because I loved the detailing on her dress. The style itself wasn't really my thing - it was a long jubah-like dress, which she pulled off stunningly (since she's tall and slim and pretty)! I, on the hand, short and petite, would have drown in a dress like that!

But, more than that, I saved her picture because she's just so gorgeous! Seriously, she and her royal husband makes one good-looking couple!

But, here's something that I actually used for my own akad nikah inspiration.

Her pelamin! It was so simple, but sweet. I loved her pelamin, and still do! But, in the end, I didn't really have any decor for my akad because of the whole "there's-11-couples-getting-married-on-the-same-day-at-Masjid-Wilayah-so-taking-the-decor-in-and-out-would-have-been-a-nuisance" thing!

To all of you planning, here's some nice ideas to turn your own Akad into a ROYAL event! *excuse my lame-ness*

I've noticed a trend lately.

Nowadays, the bride and groom are having so much fun posing for the camera, with all sorts of props!

Such a neat idea. *Kudos to the couple who started this trend!*

I think this would work especially great for couples who are camera-shy, or those who freeze in front of a camera (I'm thinking Chandler in that episode where he & Monica had to take their engagement photo, HILARIOUS!)

Posing in front of a camera can be quite daunting, especially if you're not the type who likes to be photographed. This wasn't a problem for my husband and I, tho. SN says laugh guys, we "laugh-but-still-maintain-lawa" our hearts out! :p

So, this can be quite a problem-solver for those shy guys (or girls). You don't know what to do with your hands? Hold a heart shape sign. And instantly, you wont look so awkward.

Who wants the "sit-upright-look-straight-in-the-camera" kind of photos anymore?

Nope, we want fun and cool pictures!

You can go crazy with this; Ampersand sign between you and your groom, His & Hers signs, or if that's too cheesy for you, you can always use one of those luscious red lips and for a lack of a better description, "misai Dato' K" ones :p

But, my personal favourite has got to be this!

Have you girls found your bridal shoes yet?

Here are some ideas (and tips along the way) ;

This was what I wore during my nikah,

It was a very comfortable peep toe, embellished with the extra kain from my baju, custom made especially for my feet. It was done by Syomir Izwa and it was matchy-matchy with my baju for the day. I felt that the matchy-matchy-ness was fine for the nikah, because I wanted to create a sweet look. I didn't want to be outrageous, I wanted simple and soft. So, that worked!

I love love this pair. In fact, I still use it now. So, this one was definitely worth my money! *thumbs up*

TIPS ONE: Oh, Syomir told me that for a petite girl, like myself, it is so much better to wear peep toes to make you appear less petite. The peeping of the toes (haha, this is the most perfect way to describe 'em) actually make you appear taller!

The shoes that I wore during my reception, on the other hand, was drop dead ugly!

And it was soooo uncomfortable. I think the size was a tad bit bigger than my feet. But, thankfully it had those straps around my ankle to kind of secure my feet while I walked around. I actually wanted a peep toe. But, I think towards the wedding day, Rizman got it all mixed up with all the other demands that I was asking of him, that he forgot I actually wanted a peep toe.

The shoes were also matchy-matchy with my dress for the night. And that bothered me, a bit. I wanted to be more daring with my shoes for the night.

Something like this would have been perfect!

It would have created a more glamorous, "va-va-voom" look, right?

See how much of a difference that traditional pointed shoes and that va-va-voom shoes make? One spells boring and traditional while the later screams OUTRAGEOUS! (of course, in a good way, hehe)

TIPS TWO: So, dear brides-to-bes, shoes are very important in creating the look that you're after! I'm sure you have seen all those pictures of American brides with their colourful shoes, and that just made it slightly less formal and more playful! It's always nice to see a lil' bit of character peeping thru under your dress.

Oh, and please do invest in a really comfortable pair of shoes! Because you'll be walking all night long. And if you are going to have a photography session after, like myself, that's going to be one loooooong night! Imagine my feet after my night photography, they were cursing me for trapping them in those shoes!

Hehe, well you wouldn't have known unless you're an Ikea enthusiast!

Well, we got ours during the FT holiday. Andddd only today, we (read: Husband) finally assembled it! That was after my constant yakking for the past 2 weeks!

I felt a bit like YHL (that's YoungHouseLove, for those of you who aren't DIY-fans), helping Hubs with the MALM. There were screws everywhere, and we used the hammer and different kinds of screwdrivers.

Okla, actually I slept for the first part. And when I woke up, the frame was already up! Hehe. All I had to do was hold the wood that makes the drawers together while Hubs screwed and hammered.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures during the hammering and the putting everything together. Well, because I slept. Haha.

But, this is what I saw when I woke up.

My hero hard at work all by himself, while his wife snoozed comfortably on the bed! Just look at his intense concentration! *grins* My husband is actually very anal over things like these, so he needs everything to be perfect. Hence, the look on his face.

Look at what a great job he did!

Happy! We're putting a mirror above MALM. And possibly a small white vase with flowers by the frames.

Will update on the makeover of our bedroom as and when we progress. At the current rate, it's going to take forever! :p

Wedding Disaster

Yesterday morning, I listened with horror at how this girl's wedding turned out disastrous!

This girl, Nabila just got married last weekend. And a lot of unfortunate things happened to her, but the worst, in my opinion, was how she didn't have a MUA for her akad nikah!!

On her nikah day, her MUA called her to say that he couldn' t make it because he's down with high fever!!

Ohmygod, if I were in her shoes, I would have freaked!

Seriously, what do you do?! Thankfully for her, her sister is a part-time MUA.

Mana nak cari last minute MUA?! The good ones are booked months, even a year before!

This never crossed my mind when I was preparing for my own wedding. I never thought that MUAs could ditched you at the last minute because of a sickness or emergency issues. I thought once you've paid the booking fee, then all is well.

I'm not saying that MUAs aren't human and can feel no pain. But, hello have you heard of bridezillas?! *waves* They are unreasonable! All they want is a perfect wedding. And your MUA NOT turning up doesn't spell PERFECT!!

I think MUAs should start having someone else to back him/her up. And that someone must be as good as the MUA or at least close to as good la. Like Saidatul Nisa and Liza. That's a good combo.

So, seriously, MUAs, pleaseeeee have someone else to back you up in the event where you can't make it. Because even the sweetest girl can turn into a crazy bridezilla.

You know I was in London for a couple of weeks in January? And Tory Burch is sold there? And when I was there, I didn't even bother looking at her line? Righhhtttt, I'm a douche bag!

I so love her collection! Her colours are all so vibrant; bright green, yellow, dark purple, deep red. And she also has basic colours too which is a bonus for moi!

Sigh, I haven't scouted if there is any Tory Burch sold here. But, the more I look at the bag and shoes, the more my heart yearns for them. Hehe, I must sound like a chronic shopaholic. I'm not, FYI. *err, denial*

My husband has always been my pujangga. From the start of our relationship, he would gave me poetry, sajak and love letters every now and then.

After we got back to Malaysia, life takes priority and the poetry, sajak and love letters took a back seat.

So, you can imagine my excitement when I read his tweet about this poetry. My husband, the shy-guy who hates PDA, actually had this published on Loyarburok, a popular blog on law and politics. In case you're wondering why there, my husband is a lawyer ;)

Mood Board

This is my first physical mood board that I made for someone!

It's an inspiration for a bilik pengantin, for a friend's SIL.

I never set foot in her room, just saw pictures that my friend emailed to me.

You see, making this board was accidental. My friend never asked me to do a mood board. She merely asked for ideas and tips.

But I, got over excited and volunteered to make a board. Haha.

Here's the mood board;

It's not perfect. Far from it, I have to say.

There's too much empty spaces, and I think my arrangement is a bit out.

In my excitement, I wanted to find exact materials and real flowers to put on the board. But, that didn't materialise because I was too lazy to scout around for materials and I couldn't find real bunga melur. Actually, I could but I didn't try hard enough :p

So, in the end, I had to make do with pictures printed off Google. Pfft.

All in all, I had fun doing the board. Would definitely do it again, and hopefully my boards will get better and better! :)

If you girls sweet nak bagi I lagi terrer buat mood boards, suruh la I buatkan. I'll try to do my best, I promise. Heee. *grins*

Inspired by my friend's wedding saree, I went searching for this beautiful material.

And look at what I found!

This one just.takes.my.breath.away.! It's white and heavily beaded, perfect for a simple baju kurung. I would probably use this for my akad nikah. That is if I had another chance of doing my wedding all over again :p

This light brown+gold-ish sheer saree screams GLAMOROUS! Imagine that for your reception dress, with some gold detailing, you can be one glamorous bride! *love*

I love this grey beaded saree as well. Very very chic! And the best thing about grey? It matches a lot of other colours to bring out different moods.

Like if you pair it with this pink saree for your bridemaids/entourage/family members, you'd achieve a very chic but sweet look.

Just look at that detailing at the bottom! That's just grand!! I would probably use this for my tunang. Oh, or baju raya also nice! Hmmmm...*thinking*

The last two sarees would be nice either for an engagement do' or for your bridemaids/friends.

Aren't they gorgeous?

If you haven't bought your wedding material, try sarees for something different. Asyik lace je boring jugak kan?

I'm certainly thinking of buying some for myself!

Friends' Weddings: Saran & Vilashini

This is my first ever Indian wedding.

And I had so much fun!

We were up bright and early Saturday morning because we had the heavy task of bringing the bride to the Temple. According to the Indian culture, the bride and groom must leave their respective houses before a certain time. Bad luck will follow if you leave after that set time. And in our case, that time was 10.15am.

We left early, around 8.30am because (i) the bride's house is in Cheras (ii) the Temple is in Ampang and more importantly (iii) the car was adorned with flowers and ribbons, making driving really fast impossible!

Both Hubs and I wore the Punjabi suit, and we were both very excited to wear them. Here, check us out!

The ceremony itself, where the bride and groom hold hands and walk around the fire, didn't take that long. I wasn't really paying attention to what they were doing really. I was busy looking at the bride's sari. It is sooooo gorgeous. White with gold beadings and detailing. Here, see for yourself.

And later that night, we went to their small wedding reception. Okay, hands down, this is the MOST ENJOYABLE wedding I've been to! The wedding itself is very informal, centred around the families and friends.

The performances (Indian dances, singing, and erm bhangra kompang thingy(?!)) were all done by the family members and was very very meriah!

Hubs and I really enjoyed ourselves dancing and lepaking with friends!

So much so that I woke up with an aching body the next morning. *grins*

That was truly one very meriah wedding! *Like*

Friends' Weddings: Amily & Rushdan

Last December, one of my house mates from Cardiff got married.

It was held in Dewan Merak Kayangan, buffet-styled.

The reception was simple but very enjoyable. The food was good and more importantly, the company was even better. All the right ingredients to making the perfect wedding!

So, girls, meet Amily.

Her baju is something, isn't it? The super gorgeous baju was by Qudyn. I love the detailing and the colour!

Here's the trail of her dress.

Cantik kan? And it wraps her body nicely too. Always a plus point! *hehe*

And here's the pelamin. Just the nice touch of sweetness, fitting for a day wedding.

The whole dewan was scattered with the same colour-themed ball of flowers, which is just the right amount as not to make the dewan looked crowded.

And lucky for you, I took a picture with that *huge* flower ball. Just don't mind my pose. *shy*

Oh, and the food! I think it's pretty well known that Felda D'Saji serves great tasting food. Buttt, somehow, when I eat them at Merak Kayangan, the food always taste yummier than Perdana Felda. I don't really know why, but maybe that's just me. *grins*

The best thing about day-weddings is you get to reaaaaally lepak with your friends. The informal ambience allows you to talk as loud as you want and laugh as hard as you want. not that I do that, no, no, what nonsense! *looks elsewhere*

Sakit belakang ku!

I just spent the last hour reorganising my labels. With over 100 posts, that's a lot of work!!

And all for who?

For youuuuuuu!! *I so the very sweet*

Anyways, while going through all the posts, I came across this post of mine.

Haha, bila baca balik, memang kelakar. Whatever betul.

Now, let's do a simple assessment, shall we?

First question:

Sempat ke nak kurus ni?!

Sempat sangat! On my wedding day, I was a mere 44kgs! Goodness gracious betul! Sekarang, selepas 7 bulan berkahwin, sila jangan tanya berapa berat ku!

Second question:

Sempat ke nak practice bangun awal?!

Hahaha, ni memang fail! My husband wakes up really early ALL the time! Buttttt, I am now in the habit of waking up early, since coming back from London. Tak tau la jet lag ke ape, but good la! *1 brownie point*

Third question:

Sempat ke nak belajar masak?!

Don't worry kalau tak pandai masak. Just don't live with your parents or the in-laws! Kalau duduk sendiri, guarantee sure pandai masak punya. Kalau tak husband kebulur. Bukan husband je la, diri sendiri pun sekali.

So, the bottom line is DON'T WORRY!

Just embrace whatever stress you're feeling now. You'll laugh about it in the future. Like how I am now!

Ridiculous I was then! *shakes head with a smile*

Oh, btw I still want my Mummy! Ini susah sikit nak cure :p *anak manja*

Anya, Dah-ling!

I haven't told you what I bought in London!!

You can probably guessed it from the title, but whatever.

I bought an Anya Hindmarch!! *jumps up and down*

And I loveeeeeeeee her!! *hugs tightly*

Remember when I was scouting around for the hantaran bag, and I fell in love with the AH Belvedere?

Well, it was on 50% discount in London!!!!!! The price is 240 pounds after discount, which is only RM1169.76! Seriously, isn't that dead cheap?! Kalau tak beli, memang whatever la.

Turns out, I memang whatever! Because I didn't buy it!

I'll tell you why...

See, before we left for London, I told my Husband that I only want to buy neutral-coloured bags that I can use a lot of times. Also, I realised I don't own a lot of neutral-coloured bags. So, I figured this would be a necessity. Right?

Buttttt, that Belvedere that was on sale, is in Burgundy! Neutral la sangat Burgundy tu. I wanted the Black Belvedere which is sold out everywhere in this world. Obviously, that particular shop didn't have it anymore as well la. Pfft.

Tapi, disebabkan harganya yang sangat murah, saya jadi tidak keruan.

Thought about it for soooo long...
Went all around London, whilst thinking of that bag.
And finally decided to just buy the Burgundy Belvedere. Tak neutral pun tak kisah la, mana nak dapat Belvedere with that price!

So, went back to Bond Street, and took the Belvedere from the shelf, put it ON and walked to the sales guy. Sebelum sempat sampai, got distracted by the mirror. Looked in the mirror and had second thoughts!

The French sales guy, upon seeing that I was about to talked to him but stopped midway, came and asked if I was okay. According to him, I looked very confused.

And I went on about my story. How I wanted a neutral-coloured bag, but I've always wanted a Belvedere, but the colour is not right... yada, yada, yada...

Then, he said, how about this one?

*showed this bag*

And the rest is history!

My Anya Dah-ling is so perfect. The colour is perfect. Light grey by the way The shape is perfect. Just perfect for ALL occasions!

I use her all the time now, that my Husband commented, "Kesian my Tod's. Dah tak pakai dah dia!". Awwhhhh, my baby Tod's will always have a special place, Py!

But, for now, Anya Dah-ling is my favourite! *grins*

But now, I think the clock looks a bit lonely all alone on the bare wall.

So, I've been thinking of what I can put up to compliment it.

And to my delight, I found this lying around the house.

It was one of our wedding gifts! It also has that stainless steel look, so it's just perfect!

And I've got such a brilliant idea of what to put inside the frame!!

I'm not going to tell yet, but once I'm done with the project I'll put it up!

And we also bought this black and white painting from the UK, which I will send to frame asap!

Nak tengok? Jap.

And add a floor lamp next to it, I hope this will give my living room that cosy feel I've been working on!

Especially every morning when I put them on before going to work. I always always smile when I put them on.

I have this itch to cut my hair.

Hubs has been complaining too, that my hair is always in his face. So, I guess it's time to chop off my not-so-long locks.

Here's my hair currently;

Juuust peeking past my shoulders.

I'm not known to have long hair. Except before my wedding. That was the longest ever! Nak tengok tak? Jap.

And that's when it's all blown-dry nicely. At the salon. By the professional hairstylist.

On a normal day, my hair looks like this. Eek!

Until one day, when I decided that my hands are tired from blowdrying my hair every time I wash my hair.

So, I relaxed it. This was how it looked like immediately after I got out of the salon.

And my current picture is usually how it looks like after light blowdrying. Not bad eyh?

So, now that my hair is more manageable, I want to cut and restyle my hair into something more dramatic. Eceh.

Their "Flying in the Seventh Skies High" just takes your breath away. Here, have a look.

This wedding was held at the same Dewan where I had mine, and I love how Arjuna Cipta transforms the not-so-lush Dewan into something so breathtakingly beautiful!

And here's another one. It's called the "Cendrillon dans le Jardin". (I love how they name all their different pelamins!)

It's none other than Syomir Izwa.

I cannot recommend him enough. I think I did exactly that to most, if not all, of you who have emailed me. Heee.

The thing that I love about Syomir is his designs are never boring. And his best work is always so simple. But that extra detailings are what make that simple dress out-of-this-world gorgeous!

I've been a fan ever since he did my baju nikah. I did my baju raya(s) with him after and was still blown away by his work.

I was invited to his MIFA fashion show recently, but unfortunately I couldn't make it. But here are some of the dresses that I *just* love!

This is actually my favourite! Just look at that pleats on the bodice!

I also love this. Just imagine those pleats on your wedding dress. Just beautiful!

I love the top in this outfit. The colour is oh-so-gorgeous! I think Syomir has one of the best pleating techniques.

And of course, this dress is simply stunning!! If you add fitted sleeves with similar pleating, beads and Swarovski crystals here and there, this can be your dream wedding dress ;)

I'm back in my wedding mode all because one of my close cousins is getting married! So, today we were talking about COLOURS!

I gave her some ideas - Royal Blue with Silver/Gray for a more rich, lush look and Champagne/Nude for a more subtly sweet look.

And it got me thinking what other colours would look great for a wedding, and this is what I got after a few hours! Heee.

This blog gives you the colour trends for 2011. And they even gave inspiration boards for you to draw...erm inspiration from. *grins*

I especially love these ones.

I think I want to get this!

I don't usually fancy Coach, but this one really caught my attention!

I have been looking for a nice black work bag. And this might just be it! It's not too flashy and yet it's still very chic and young. And I especially love the purple satin lining inside. Gives it a modern vibe.

I don't know how much it retails here but they're selling for US$598 in the US. Might just pop into one of the Coach stores here to checkitout!

The One Who Got Away....

No, no, not talking about any ex-bfs here.

Chill chill :p

I'm actually talking about the photog that I didn't get.

Pre-wedding day, I did a *LOT* of research on various photographers.

I only knew two things then; One - I've always wanted SN to do my reception (and He DID!) And Two - I want 2 different photogs for my Akad and Reception. My thinking was I would like to have different styles for the different events. So takde la nampak semua sepesen. But, of course, hiring different photogs from different companies for different events only means one thing - MORE EXPENSIVE!

So, since I knew SN would be doing my Reception, my mission then was to find a photographer for my Akad Nikah.

After browsing through websites over websites over websites, I found one that I really really love!

They are Kudegraphy!

Their work just caught my eye! Their style is very distinct from the mainstream photographers. Their photos are just one of their kind. And really, they are just refreshingly DIFFERENT!

At that time, I think they were still pretty low-key. The only celebrity wedding that they did was Serina and Gavin's. But, later on, I found out that they actually work closely with LyndaRahim Wedding.

I called them up to see if they were available on my Akad. And mind you, this was less than 2 months before. At the time, I was just being hopeful (or naive) that they would be free! After all, they weren't that big. At least that's what I think then!

Turned out, they weren't free. And they weren't so low key either. Hehe.

So, if you have the chance (and of course the money), do check them out! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I can so imagine them in my bathrooms. And they'll definitely be an eye-catcher! I so wantttttt!

But, one costs US$118?

Homaigod, mahal kannnnn? That's almost rm500 for one(!) shower curtain(!)

I cannot even find reasons to justify this! It's just too ridiculously expensive. Even I know that. Sheesh.

So, I thought I'll just DIY one. I saw some bright-coloured shower curtains in Ikea, so maybe I can work with that. And hopefully, it'll turn out somewhere near the picture.

This will be one of my weekend projects! Except my weekends always come and go before I even knew it! Pfft.

Don't you just love the cinematography? Homaigod! Everything looks a hundred times prettier in the video.

And I love that I remember exactly how I felt on my Akad when I watch the video. And how it puts a smile on my face. And how my heart goes all warm and lovey-dovey when I hear my Husband pronounce the Akad. And how I want to watch it over and over again.

That, I think, is what makes a good video. :)

Kudos to Zaidan and his team for producing such a wonderful video, one that I will forever cherish!

This is the wall in our living room. It's bare and uninviting and we want to make it a lil' bit cosier.

We thought this would be nice;

But, we are going to put up pictures in different sized frames along our hallway, so using this same idea again would make our house look too cluttered. R-E-J-E-C-T!

Then, I thought mirrors would look nice. It'll make the house looks bigger and classy.

But, after thinking about it again, I thought hmmm, mirrors doesn't really fit into the rest of our theme. Besides, we want that cosy, inviting, warm feel. Am not too sure if mirrors can give us that. R-E-J-E-C-T!

And then, we both agreed that maybe a wall clock is what it takes.

We really like this idea. Simple, yet it brings a hint of warmth.

Butttt, it's so darn difficult to find the clock! We have been looking and we have yet to find one that we both love. Sometimes its the size that I don't agree on and other times it the face that Hubs doesn't approve. And that's exactly why our wall is still empty!

We want a modern-classic wall clock that is neither too small or too big. Like Goldilocks, we've tasted many porridges, but still haven't found one that is just nice.

We actually found this last one in SSF, but the price was a wee bit too steep! So, R-E-J-E-C-T!

Up & Running...!

Hello!

I'm back on the blogging sphere!! It's been a month since my last post - and that was how long it took for the TM people to get us connected. Pffft. But, alas, I shall spare you of my rantings and get on with ittttt! *enthusiastic mode ON*

I just realised earlier that today marks our 5th month of blissful marriage. And it has been the best thing ever! All I can say is we are very very happy *grins*
(No, no this is not a sappy *I-love-my-husband-so-much* post)

I want to share with you lovelies our honeymoon trip to Mauritius. We were very very fortunate to received the trip as our wedding gift. The trip was for 5 days 3 nights - we both felt it was too short, but beggars cant be choosers! :p

I don't think I can do justice to the beautiful Mauritius, so I shall let you drool over the pictures okay?

We started our day with this view - so peaceful!

Overall, we had a lovely time - relaxing and just being with each other. It is the ultimate honeymoon destination; you can instantly feel the romance since the place is just so beautiful! The only complaint I have? The horrible turbulence going to Mauritius and back home. It was sooo bad that I was really scared for our lives. It definitely made me think twice before going to the place again. But, if you're good with turbulence, then you definitely should give this heaven on earth a visit!

But, I've got a pretty good reason - I got married!! Hehe.

Oklah, a better reason is our house is not connected to Steamyx yet, making blogging a very difficult task!
