Stay: Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta, MGallery Collection

Salam my dear readers, Sorry I've been slow in updating this month! I've been cooking every single day, making up for the rest of the months that I dont. Haha. So, continuing with our Yogyakarta trip. We stayed at one of the most awesome hotels in Yogyakarta. As you may recalled in this post , I was hoping that the hotel wouldn't just be indah khabar dari rupa (beautiful only in pictures but meh in real life!). And thank you God, we weren't disappointed. As we stepped into the hotel, we were greeted by a floor-to-ceiling glass doors, which made the medium-sized lobby light and airy. Check-in was swift and the front desk staff were all very courteous and helpful.  The reception desk was made out of wood, beautifully carved with typical Indonesian motifs. Behind it stood a large wooden sculpture, also carved intricately.  Lobby of Hotel Phoenix, Yogyakarta. As you move into the hotel, you would see these designs repeating itself. It's cl...

The not-so-Amazing Race

Thursday, June 27th 2013 will always be a date that I will remember. That was the day we took off to Yogyakarta for a lil getaway.  Our flight was a morning one. 9.45am to be exact.  Stayed up late the night before to pack and to play Candy Crush -_____-  Woke up late at 6.30am the next morning. And rushed like crazy, so we could leave the house to KL Sentral by 7am.  Called for a taxi to come at 7am, went downstairs to our condo's lobby at 7am, and there was no taxi!  Husband called the taxi company and was informed that the taxi had came and left!!!!! Husband was furious. Called for other cab companies and no taxis were available that morning. Great!  So, we took our car and drove to my mom's (thank God we live so near each other!) so she could dropped us off in KL Sentral.  Got to KL Sentral by 7.30-ish and waited in the blardy connecting bus to LCCT for 30 minutes before the bus finally moved at 8am!  Reache...

Yogyakarta to Kuala Lumpur

Hi you guys! I have just recovered from a fever post-holiday and is still getting over this nasty cough. We got back from Yogyakarta on Sunday night and holiday-withdrawal-symptoms quickly kicked in. I should be applauded for getting into work on Monday! Anyways, I'll update more on our trip soon after I'm done working on a photobooth for a lil' toddler's birthday party this Sunday. Till then, toodles!

Countdown to Yogyakarta

2 more days before we leave for our short trip to Yogyakarta. I am really looking forward to go. Haven't had a proper holiday in months! With the horrible haze that's engulfing us these past few days, I'm hoping that the weather in Yogya is fresher. One of the sights that we wanted to see is Dieng Plateau. Dieng, as the locals call it, is a volcanic area that is 6,000 ft above sea water! There is about 8 small Hindu temples on the Dieng and that is also such a sight to see. Well, on Google Images, that is. I won't be able to show you pictures of my own because our tour guide just informed us that access to Dieng is now limited to due to road works. -___- Our tour guide says that we can still go to Dieng, but would have to change vehicle nearer to the place, which we find quite of a hassle. So, we decided to give this place a miss. Dang, if not I could have shown you a picture like this! Photo taken from Lonely Planet

Yogyakarta, Indonesia

We are going to Yogyakarta for a short getaway, yay!  Husband and I have been talking about going away during our Month of Love since we got married, 3 years ago. We finally get to do so this year since there no cousins/relatives getting married this time around.  Since I don't have a lot of annual leave (-___-) we decided to go someplace near. Husband loves the hustle and bustle of citylife and I've been wanting to see Borobudur, so Yogyakarta is the perfect destination for us!  Aside from Borobodur, we haven't done our research yet as to what we want to see and do there. So any inputs from you would be awesome!  I'm also looking forward to staying in the hotel. One thing about me is that I LOVE myself some fancy hotels!  And the place we are staying at is just that. In pictures that is. I hope it's not one of those 'indah khabar dari rupa' type.  Here, check it out.  Lobby Poolside Deluxe Room  Pretty, ...

Rindu London.

London, we're in love! Right now, I am missing London so much.  One year ago, I was in London for 3 months working.  4 months ago, I was in London for 2 weeks holidaying.  If only money grows on my backyard.

Travel dreams: Maine

Maine, USA got into my travel wish list after I watched Man v Food some years ago. And it's all because I saw Adam Richman ate some yummy-looking, mouth-watering, saliva-inducing lobster!! I absolutely LOVE seafood especially lobster and crabs. Oh, the lengths I go to satisfy my cravings. Apparently Maine is famous for its fresh lobster. Boiled and served with butter; it does not need anything else because the meat is that sweet and fresh. *telan air liur gila* I can actually imagined how good the lobster must be; fresh, succulent, tender and sweet. Everytime Adam takes a bite, I can feel my mouth salivating. Even as I'm writing this, I'm salivating. Sedapnya ya Allah. I actually don't know anything else about Maine.  Where is it exactly, which state is it in or what other attractions are there but all I know I have to go there to EAT THOSE YUMMY LOBSTER! Fly away....

Right now, I'm in Langkawi for a quick getaway with my husband and family. Some of you probably know that the LIMA is going on. We didn't come here for that. We came for the beach, chocolates and ikan bilis! But, since this island is pretty small, we can see the jets doing all sort of dangerous stunts whenever we're driving around. The locals here actually parked their cars by the road side just to watch the air shows. And today, we joined them and stopped by the airport road. And it was so so awesome. Those dangerous stunts the pilots pulled, so cool!!! And the jets came down pretty low to the land and I got all excited! See, I'm a girly girl. I love everything pink, pretty and blingy! So, I was pretty surprised that I enjoyed myself so much while watching the jets zooming away above us. I wouldn't mind watching the jets again, but I wouldn't trade that with a trip to the shopping mall. Hehe. That lone jet puts up one of the best shows. Flying in o...

Tanah tumpah darahku

Oh, hello blog readers (that is, if I still have them after abandoning this blog for a looonggg time!) Just dropping in to say hi! And to say that I'm now in Londonnnnnn! Not forever though, just here for 3 months. And without my Husband! :( I'm missing him soo bad, but I'm also enjoying my time here. C'mon, it's London, taman tumpahnya darahku, literally! So, hopefully now that I finally have Internet connection at home, I'll be able to blog more. Laters lovelies! Xx

Kota Singapura 2

So I've told you about what I didn't buy. Now, I tell you what I bought! *excited* Jeng jeng jeng..... Aren't they the prettiesttttt?! Hehe, I'm so happy I got them! I never promised I wouldn't buy any shoes now, did I? Hehe. The purchase of this pair did not come without the drama. As per usual la kan, I always drama lebih if nak beli barang2 mahal ni. So, we were walking around in Orchard Road and I decided to go into Ferragamo. Walked in and saw the shoes immediately. Tried them on and love how comfy they are. Asked for my size and jeng jeng jeng, they didn't have my size! Fine, keluar dengan muka sugul. Tapi macam redha masa tu. Haha. BBM-ed my sister and told her about the shoes. Then she said, "kenapa tak tanya if ada kat any other outlet? And you can even ask them to take it from the other outlet kalau ada" I, trying to be all matured and grown up, replied, "takpelah, I'll go myself to the other outlets, kalau ada re...

Kota Singapura

I just came back from my 5-days vacation to Singapore! I know, I know, 5 days in Singapore?! Lama gila kan. Basically we did the usuals - Universal Studios, Night Safari and my favourite - SHOPPING! Butttt, this time around, I DID NOT go crazy buying everything! (like I did in London and HK ;p) I think this is because i) I'm maturing and ii) sale wasn't too great - shopping kat KL lagi best and murah. Haha okay lah, it's more of the latter. Kalau sale beria, terus lupa je maturing grown up lady tu. Hehe. Anyways, before leaving for Singapore, I announced to my Husband - "I've decided that I'm not going to buy any more bags this year!" The agreement was two designer bags per year for now, until he gets richer then I can buy anything anywhere anytime. Eceh. *berangan* And then, arrived in Singapore and regretted BIG time! Because when I got to Singapore, I fell in love with not one, but two bags!! Me and my big mouth. *slaps forehead* One is ...

Jade Mountain, St Lucia

I'm a sucker for gorgeous hotels. Period. But gorgeous hotels with a breathtaking view? LOVE 'em. And so, I was checking out luxury hotels on Google, and I stumbled upon this. That instantly caught my eye! That view is magnificent, MasyaAllah. So I went to the website and found out that the hotel is in St. Lucia, an island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea. And looking at the pictures, oh-my-oh-my, most rooms come with that beautiful view. Imgaine seeing those green mountains, with those clear blue sky first thing in the morning. Such serenity and peace! I'd imagine the air to be so clean and clear, you won't be needing air-conds there. This is going down as one of the places that I have to visit. InsyaAllah, when we have the money. Till that dream comes true, let's drool looking at these pictures. Pictures taken from Jade Mountain Hotel's website

Jalan Jalan Bali

Hello! I am back. Actually I have been back for 2+ weeks already. But, work has been crazy and hence the silence! Sorry for those who left comments here, I'll reply soon! I am also working on something BIG and exciting! And insyaAllah, when the time comes, I shall share it here. Hence, another reason why I've been silent here :p For now, I leave you with a photo of us in Ubud, my favourite, favourite place in Bali. Next time kalau pegi Bali, nak duduk kat Ubud je. It's hilly (good for paranoid people like me who's always thinking of the tsunami everytime I see high waves!) and romantic. Perfect for honeymooners as well. Sorry la tak boleh nak elaborate since I'm pressed for time. But, you can always ask our dear friend, Google! :p As the Indonesians say, Daaaa! xoxo

Bali ♥

I'm going to Baliiiiii! After my passport drama, we are now set to lounging in the Sun, stuffing ourselves with seafood and just relax. Leaving in a while, so all of you take care and see you when I get back. Oh, I also would like to commend Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia for the very efficient service. Got my passport in under an hour yesterday! *thumbs up* Buhbyeeeee! xx

Doofhead

I am sooooo ignorant/pelupa/careless/doof!! You know why? Well, I'm going to Bali on Wednesday and as I was going through the itineary, I remembered that my passport is expiring at the end of the year! Wayyyyyy past the 6 months travel period! Sakit jantung sekejap! Then quickly asked my colleagues how long would renewal take. And thank heavens it now takes an hour, max two. After i've sorted out what to do - printed off the documents needed, photocopied my IC and called Mom for my passport photos - I calmly bbm-ed Hubs. Let's just say he wasn't too happy. Eek. So, first thing tomorrow morning, I'm heading to PBD to renew my passport! Doakan dapat terus k? Amin.

Melaka, Malacca

This is one of my favourite states in this country! It all started when I first went to Melaka for my department's family day back in 2008. I fell in love with the place but didn't have enough time to explore the city then. Came back and told then-boyfriend that the first road trip that we're taking together would be to Melaka! And so we did, last Wesak weekend. We had a blast there. We explored the city; went to Jonker Walk, ate good food, bought knick knacks, rode on the beca, got ourselves much-needed massage and just being with each other. We stayed at a new hotel, Casa del Rio . And I'm glad we booked our room there! It is GORGEOUS! Check it out yerself. That's the hotel at night taken from across the river We were greeted with cold towel and lime & ginger sorbet. That was very refreshing on a really hot day That's the magnificent lobby, even more stunning at night The room is lebar & panjang. Quite spacious for the two of us. I love the layout,...

Monyok

I cannot watch the Royal Wedding anymore because it'll remind me of my husband. Who is supposed to come back from the US tonight.... buttttt, because one of his flights got delayed, he missed his connecting flights!!! which means he's arriving a day later! Uwarghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... :(

Tea & Scones

*please read in your best Bri'ish accent* Hello my dears, It's 24 hours to the Royal Wedding!! I am very excited to watch history in the making tomorrow. Are you? All day today, I talked about the wedding - giving friends and colleagues royal trivia, looking at pictures after pictures and studying the procession routes. I know, a tad obsessed. But, this doesn't come very often! And I have been ogling at this ! The place is only 5mins away from Buckingham Palace! It is literally on the palace grounds!! And Kate Middleton and her family (as well as the flower girls and page boys) are all staying here now! All the time looking at the website, I was imagining myself, looking all princess-y and Bri'ish in my hat and gloves, sipping tea out of my dainty tea cup with one pinky up, and going "Oh, what a lovely weather to be out" (cos them Brits love to talk about the weather, don't they?) Oh well, that's as close that I can get to feeling like a Princess. So, ...
